The Butterfly's default alarm settings are derived from Settings are based values provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), World Health Organization (WHO), and studies from leading Universities. The defaults vary depending on application. All default settings, their units, as well as notifications can be changed easily through the Conscious app. The values for Rental Properties are:

* what is the heat index ?
** What is the Air Quality Index?
*** When the sound level reaches the threshold, the Butterfly record every 30s for 10 mins; then sends the first notification. Second notifications sent after 20 minutes if sound level is not reduced
Wifi Transmission and APP updates
The Butterfly takes readings per the measurement frequency above and stores them on-board the Butterfly. These readings are then transmitted to the cloud, and user applications updated every 6 hours. If an Alarm is received at any time (i.e. a reading hits the default threshold), the Butterfly wirelessly transmits to the cloud instantly, providing the notification per the above table.
If the Butterfly is in DC mode (plugged into the wall) via the supplied USB cable, it will wirelessly transmit every minute.
Self-test and Diagnostics
The Butterfly completes an exhaustive diagnostic self-test daily and set up to provide an audit report via email weekly. The Conscious app also updates the user on battery life
